Senior Programme Officer, Innovation

Tariq joined ICMM in 2022 as a Sr. Programme Officer in the Innovation team. He leads the surface mining mobile equipment decarbonisation work, i.e. the Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction pillar within the Innovation for Cleaner, Safer Vehicles (ICSV) initiative. He also works closely with the Environment team on climate change topics.

Prior to joining ICMM, Tariq was at Liebherr Mining, working on zero-emission solutions for mining operations.

Before moving to the mining & metals sector, Tariq worked in the automotive industry on energy optimisation and low-emission vehicles.

Having moved to France in 2012 to pursue his passion for sustainability, he has been living in Colmar, the Alsatian region of the East of France, in proximity to the tripoint area where the borders of France, Germany and Switzerland meet, for over half a decade.

Tariq has an M.Sc. in Automotive Engineering for Sustainable Mobility from Polytech Orléans & ISAT Nevers, France, and a B.Tech. in Mechatronics Engineering from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, India.
