Dr. Sally Innis joined ICMM in April 2023 as a senior programme officer. She is currently leading the development of ICMM’s public global mining database and the Scope 1 & 2 emissions report for the mining industry. Sally also contributes to ICMM’s Materials Stewardship Facility group, which focuses on improving the principles and practices underpinning the sustainable use and supply of mining materials and their associated risks.
Prior to joining ICMM, Sally completed her PhD in Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia, where her research addressed the need for qualitative and quantitative approaches to understand risks and opportunities in the mining industry, including mapping the consequences of potential tailings storage facility failures. She has diverse experience across the mine life cycle, including exploration geology, environmental consulting, and commodity trading.
