3 November 2025

London, UK – ICMM is pleased to announce the appointment of James Clark as its new Director of Communications and External Affairs, effective March 2026.

James joins ICMM from the National Farmers Union (NFU), where he served as Director of Communications and External Affairs. At NFU, James led a comprehensive communications and engagement strategy for one of the UK’s most influential industry bodies, representing 46,000 farming and growing businesses. His leadership spanned policy advocacy, media relations, stakeholder engagement, education, and digital communications.

Prior to his role at NFU, James held senior positions including Head of Press & Public Affairs for Toyota (GB) and Director at Cardew Group, a leading City PR agency. His career reflects a deep commitment to strategic communications, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement across diverse sectors.

We are delighted to welcome James to ICMM. His experience in leading high-impact communications and advocacy initiatives will be invaluable at a time of significant and growing interest in the mining & metals industry. James brings a unique blend of strategic insight, sectoral knowledge, and a passion for sustainability that aligns perfectly with ICMM’s mission.

I’m honoured to join ICMM at such a pivotal time for the mining and metals industry. I look forward to working with members and stakeholders to strengthen ICMM’s voice and impact, and to help shape a more sustainable and responsible future for mining.

James will lead ICMM’s global communications strategy, external affairs, and stakeholder engagement, supporting the organisation’s commitment to sustainable development and responsible mining practices. He will be a member of the ICMM Management Team.
